Ladies: Just thought I'd touch base on the Wiki as we prepare for our final week before the project is due. As Tesa can confirm, today's interview yielded good photos and sound. Please apprise if/when any of our other listed sources can interview. I understand we visit Greenpeace this Monday at 12:30 pm (which location?); hopefully I can get the Yuen Long DC person to meet with us later that day but before class. At any rate, I'm open for suggestions on exactly what times and where we do editing from April 1 to 5. Thanks again, Bong

Hi guys, I'm looking forward to joining you guys at the March 26 interview and I'm also doing another interview on Tuesday with Greenpeace. I'm still trying to find the homeless guy...=/ In any case, that will be a bonus to our story. Any luck with the Yuen Long waste dump and politicians?

Tesa: How did today's Greenpeace interview go? I hope it went well.
Today I picked up a recorder from Ben for our visit tomorrow to David Ellery in Yuen Long (again, see you in Central MTR at 9:30 AM). I spoke today with the Yuen Long DC assistant, and he was hopeful about our meeting with the Enviro-Improvement Committee chair this Monday, March 31. As always, I'll keep you two posted. Bong

I've uploaded the photographs from Sunday on flickr.com- my username is "elmylung" so you have no problems locating the photos on the class group that we all joined. I suggest we can all upload our photos there and then go through them to select which ones we want for the soundslide project. This weekend and Sunday I won't be free but Tues night is a good time for me to go back to school- maybe we can meet then to get our soundslide project together and just get this out of the way as we've got our final projects coming up too?
Please let me know. Cheers.

Oh.... there are maps on the website- so I'm going to print them out later at the media lab and then bring them tomorrow to show the driver or ask people if we aren't sure how to get there. I think the nearest train station would be Fanling- 3rd last station from Lo Wu on the old KCR line.
We can meet at 10am for breakfast around the station- then talk about it- then head to the farm at about 11:45 am, take a few pics of the area before they arrive. Thnx

Hi Lily,
Tim has contacted the spokesperson for Caritas Hong Kong and told him that we two will go to his office this Friday afternoon at around 3 p.m. to interview him. The address of his office is 黃大仙東頭村耀東樓8號 (衙前衛村公厠附近). He said we may take a taxi at 黃大仙 MTR station to his office. His contact details are as follows: Charles Chan Chi Kwong, Supervisor Caritas JC Integrated Service for Young People-Wong Tai Sin Tel 2382 0265 Fax 2716 4381
I sent an email to your HKU email account, but I don't know whether you receive it or not. So I also post the message on our page. When and where are we going to meet?

hey pals,
i have more information about the green family. the french lady and her chinese husband are both green people who try their best in conserving the environment. they are not activists, but they do many tiny little things at home, such as:
- avoid flushing the toilet bowl until they think it smells - instead of having the water tap kept running, they would fill the basin with water, use it to wash the vegetables, then save it later to wash the dishes - they bring their own bags to markets - they dont have any air-conditioners installed at home - if they see any usable furniture or wood pieces, they bring it home and hammer it into a bed/cabinet themselves
my friend who gave me her contact said we can give her a call directly. so i'll ring her up tomorrow. as for Ho Loy, i have already gotten her mobile contact. i'll give her a ring and see if she is willing to have an interivew with us.

The event will take place at next Saturday( March 1st). Since both peter and I have the TV production course in the morning, and Peter and Kitty have advanced news writing course in the afternoon, a way for us to cover the event can be: Kitty in the morning for the starting ceremony and peter can assist you( he will come in a bit late for the tv class), maybe interview one of the organizers? I will go to one of the route after class and take pics along the way, and interview people who have finished the hike.
Think also next monday we need to contact ppl from green power and confirm the avenue of the starting ceremony and also the interview.
Any more thoughts?

Ladies: Just want to ask what progress you might have made since we last spoke. Unfortunately, neither Sunburst Technologies nor the Environmental Improvement Committee chair of the Yuen Long District Council has so far replied to my inquiries -- despite my posting both as resources on this Wiki! Anyway, I'll persist and now have a camera to take photos around town of any visible plastic bottle disposals. Let's try to catch up during the break in Monday night's class. Thanks, Bong

Thanks for the effort, Bong. I took some pictures of waste during the holidays and did some research. Unfortunately, we didn't get any interviews done. I will keep requesting for interviews related to the story line that we've discussed. Besides the two Bong contacted, I will try to get in touch with the two I posted onto the Resources Page. Since Elmy's contact hasn't back to Hong Kong yet, shall we talk about what story or stories our project consists of? I wanted to focus on the process of organic farming, if Elmy's contact s are willing to show us how they take care of their plants, I guess it covered my side of story pretty well.

I've already called the wife- she'll talk to her husband first. She said we can also take photos of their kids when they are back for the Easter break but that'll be too late so we can just focus on the couple. She'll get back to me asap as she knows that we've got a deadline and we need to leave some time for editing too.
Kindly look at the timetable post and so we can set a date- I don't mind asking them questions for the interview and do also do the contacting. Can help out with editing too. :)

Hi there,
I know you're going to interview some people from the Green Student Council. I've interviewed Michelle before. They group doesn't have a permanent office so if you're planning to do interviews with them you might have to arrange to do it elsewhere but Michelle is also a HKU student so if you give her a call in advance then I suppose you can easily arrange with her to do it on campus if not at the Caritas event.

I have called the Green Power several time, both before and after the event, and found that they are not helpful at all!
While I tried to ask for interview when I called them two days ago, their reply is: "we are too busy and we'll not do such interview".
That's a really rude reply.
Instead, I found the profile of a founder of Green Power, he is called Simon Chau. I am trying to get him to have interview, hope good news will come soon!
Here is Simon Chau's personal website, please have a look if you have time! http://www.simonchau.hk/english/index.htm

I think we need to meet to establish a direction for this story. It's not clear to me now which story we are looking to tell. I have contacted The Salvation Army and extracted a promise from someone there that a boss of some description will contact me so I can set up an interview for us, but we need to develop our ideas before we conduct interviews. Can we arrange a meeting time? If we meet in person, then we can also interview each other and complete assignment #6. Cheers.

After our good meeting Saturday, I thought we might begin this week to list our interview resources as well as take photos. Two resources come to mind: 1) David Ellery, managing director of Sunburst Technologies in Hong Kong -- he was the scientist in Michelle's "earthworm photo"; and 2) anyone serving on Yuen Long's District Council, especially its Environmental Improvement Commitee, since they'd oversee the dump site we identified. Please feel free to add to this thread or begin posting. Thanks again, Bong
